Note: CHAW is unfortunately accessible only via stairs. Built before the Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1990, the studios, theater, and gallery are not accessible by either an elevator or ramp. If you have questions, please reach out via email to casting@factionoffools.org.

These auditions are curated. Please email casting@factionoffools.org with your COMBINED headshot and resume by Friday, 10/16, using the subject line “YOUR LAST NAME, Actor Submission.” You will hear from us either way if you have been given an audition slot.

We will contact you by Friday, 10/23, if we have an audition available for you. At that point, you will receive a link to schedule a time that works for you!

Please note: we are only casting non-equity actors at this time.

Preparation

Prepare any 90-second monologue you are very familiar with. We will allow you to present it as prepared, and then we might play around with it!

Faction of Fools is DC's Commedia dell'Arte theatre company. Commedia dell'Arte originated in Renaissance Italy and is characterized by archetypal characters, high energy physicality, and theatrical masks. BLUE SHEEP, By Doug Robinson

BLUE SHEEP is set in a village of shepherds at the base of a green rolling hill. On this hill, babies are left, adopted, and raised by the shepherds until it’s their day to return to the world. Today is Emily’s day, which causes chaos and conflict for her best friend Blue, their families, the whole village really. A riff on the classic hero’s journey, BLUE SHEEP is full of sheep, song, and whimsy, exploring themes of fate, inheritance, and community.

Workshop Dates: January 8-10, 2027

Production dates: June 1-August 14

Actor Compensation: $1,440

Performances will be held at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, 545 7th Street SE, Washington, DC 20003. Rehearsals will be held at CHAW, as well as another TBD location. All roles will have understudy coverage
