2nd Annual Fool for All

Tales of Courage and Poultry

Presented as part of the 2011 Capital Fringe Festival
July 7th, 9th, 14th, 19th, and 23rd, 2011

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the henhouse…

TALES OF COURAGE AND POULTRY follows the success of Faction of Fools’ Tales of Love and Sausages, a hit in the 2010 Capital Fringe Festival and the inaugural “Fool for All” production.  Critics called Tales of Love and Sausages “witty and intelligent” and praised its “awesome feats of physical comedy.”

TALES OF COURAGE AND POULTRY is composed of 9 rotating scenes with pluck and cluck, performed by over 40 of DC’s favorite theatre artists.  Each scene will be performed 2-3 times, with a different bill of four scenes at each performance.  The scenes are created by the ensemble and performed in the Italian Renaissance style of COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE.  Commedia dell’Arte (literally, “theatre of the professional”) is known for its masks, stock characters, physical comedy, and improvisation.  Commedia originated in Italy in the early 1500s when performers legally incorporated to form the world’s first theatre “companies” and began to tour their shows throughout Europe.  Their work had a lasting influence on artists as diverse as Shakespeare, Molière, the Marx Brothers, the creators of Saturday Night Live, and contemporary sit-coms.
