Faction of Fools also works as Guest Artists in New York City schools. By serving as instructors and mentors in school theatre programs, we connect developing artists to theatre professionals who can provide extra training as well as offer a perspective on a life in the arts. Furthermore, Faction of Fools has had great success working in conjunction with English literature departments by performing scenes and giving lectures on classic dramatic texts in English classes. This adjunct to traditional classroom techniques allows students to see their assigned reading in live performance rather than simply on the page. Students begin to understand the relevance and value of these "great works" of literature when they experience them firsthand and realize that education can also be entertaining. Our success rate is particularly high with Shakespeare's comedies because the first obstacle for any teacher of these texts is to convince students that they actually can be funny!
